    The sudden onset of the Pandemic, brought the whole world to a grinding halt and one of the most affected sectors was the education of the students. The UNICEF reported that 1.5 billion students suffered because many schools had to pull their shutters down for an indefinite period.

    In a desperate effort to resume the classes many schools worldwide started to scramble around for online teaching platforms. The immediate options for them were to use some free software like, Zoom, Google meet, MS teams, etc. Teachers and students suddenly had to adopt to the new norms, many were excited with the new find but that did not last for long. The overdose of online teaching, inability to adapt to the new environment, poor internet connectivity, insufficient teaching experience through online mode and non-availability of customised software to suit the teaching learning environment made situations more complicated

    Many of them have started realising that these are only video conferencing tool not actually meant for teaching but still continued to use it. Some schools went overboard by extensively bombarding students with the new find not realising that their students are going crazy sitting in front of the monitor for the whole day

    In some places in an effort to save their children from the video class traumatic experience, approached the judicial court to submit their plea and protest against the online teaching.

    However, the uncertain future and the anticipation of the second wave has made educators to rethink on the new system of education

    “How to conduct classes without classroom by using knowledge checkers” is a model suited for the current and post COVID scenario. The model takes into consideration the internet connectivity issues and inability to attend classes on real time. It also provides due emphasis to the pedagogical process and avenues for interactive learning, collaborative learning, contextual learning etc.

    A combination of approaches does not over burden the students and the teachers and at the same time alleviates the problem of internet connectivity issue to a large extent if not completely
